William H. “Bill” Wingard

William H. “Bill” Wingard, 56, of Shippenville, went to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, February 18, 2025, at UPMC Shadyside while in the company of his loving wife following a seven-month courageous battle with cancer.

William was born in Oil City on August 24, 1968. He was the son of Doyle Wingard of Emlenton and the late Mary Bottz Wingard.

He was a 1986 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg and was of the Protestant faith.

Bill had been employed at Swartzfager Welding in Knox. He enjoyed attending car shows, hunting, and the company of his dogs, “Jeter” and “DiMaggio” and his cat, “Leila.”

In addition to his father, Bill is survived by his wife, Tonia Simon Wingard, whom he married in Olean, NY on September 1, 2012. Also surviving are two brothers, R. Adam Wingard and his wife, Briana, and J. Casey Wingard and his wife, Kelly, all of Shippenville; a sister, Vicky Gates and her husband, Randy, of Emlenton; his mother-in-law, Nancy Marlett; a sister-in-law, Kelly Simon, both of Olean, NY, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2025. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Phillip P. Thomas, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church in Meadville, officiating. The interment will be in Phipps Cemetery, Knox.
