VFW Post 7073 & American Legion Post 598 Memorial Day Preparations

VFW Post 7073 and American Legion Post 598 is preparing activities for Memorial Day weekend. At the April meeting of the VFW, it was decided the cut back on the traditional THIRTEEN cemetery and town stops as has been done for decades. The age and health of our squad makes this decision as must. The new times and places of services will be announced next week in Progress.

A joint community Memorial Day Church Service will be held at 10:45 AM on Sunday, May 26 at Park Hill Church of God on Lime Plant Rd., West Freedom. Chaplain Charles “Chuck” Cline (VFW), pastor of Eau Claire and Parker Presbyterian Churches will be speaker. Chuck is a Vietnam veteran. Park Hill is host, but some of the other local churches have agreed to attend this service. Any honorably discharged veteran is permitted to attend and join their fellow comrades at this time.

Help is also needed at 9:00 AM on Saturday, May 25 at Parker Presbyterian Cemetery to install flags on graves of deceased veterans.
