Venango’s Edge 4-H Club News

The Venango’s Edge 4-H Club would like to thank all of those volunteers that were involved in making the Venango County Fair a great success. From the Fair Board Directors, to the 4-H Development Committee Members, to the 4-H Livestock Committee Members, Penn State Extension Staff, parents, friends and family - thank you! With twenty-two 4-H members, Venango’s Edge 4-H Club members entered 38 4-H projects. Members in the club took projects in various areas, starting at floriculture, cooking, woodworking, sewing, veterinary science, crocheting, cake decorating, and officer’s books. They also entered in a variety of animal classes in goats, swine, beef cattle, dairy cattle, rabbits, cavies (guinea pigs) and lambs. Members of the club won Best of Show Floriculture, Grand Champion Breeding Goat, & 3 Reserve Champions. They also won nineteen 1st place ribbons, twelve 2nd place ribbons, two 3rd place ribbons and one 4th place ribbon. Members also helped Monday evening with the annual Pedal Tractor Pull Contest.

Many of these 4-H’ers have qualified with their 4-H projects to advance to the PA Farm Show, in Harrisburg, PA in January 2025.

Te 4-H club is always accepting new members, but now is the best time to get started in a Venango County 4-H Club. We meet the 3rd and 5th Thursday of each month at the Salem Reformed Church at 7 pm

For more information, please contact 4-H Leader, Robin Schick at 814-227-3239 or the 4-H Educator, Abby Brockett at the Penn State Extension Office at 814-437-7607.
