Valedictorian and Salutatorian Announced for A-C Valley Class of 2024



Grace Elizabeth Barlett

Valedictorian

 

The Valedictorian for Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School, Class of 2024 is Grace Elizabeth Barlett.

Grace is the daughter of Erin and Earl Barlett of Parker, PA.

The announcement came at the annual awards day assembly on May 22, 2024 and at the graduation ceremony later that day.

Grace’s senior activities include participation in the GIVE Club, as President; she is the Senior Class Vice President; a member of the National Honor Society and Secretary; she was the student representative for the ACV School Board; she was the Chief Science Officer; she served as a volunteer coach with the A-C Valley Elementary Girls’ Basketball Program.

Grace was also a member of the academic competition team and had been a top scorer at propaganda and current events competitions.

Grace was also one of the 72 students who attended the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University.

Grace received the GIVE Club Award; an Emlenton Civic Club Scholarship; and the Bernie Smith Scholarship.

Outside of school, Grace serves as the President of the Emlenton Echoes 4-H Club, a Youth Representative for the Clarion County Drug Free Coalition, and District Representative for Students for Education in Pennsylvania. :

Grace will attend Brown University in the fall to concentrate in biochemistry and molecular biology to support her aspirations of becoming a medical researcher or a physician. Grace is also one of the 76 students admitted to Brown’s Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME), one of the nation’s most prestigious 8-year B.S./M.D. programs.



Madison Hurrelbrink

-Salutatorian

 

Also announced on May 22, 2024, was the ACV Class of 2024 Salutatorian, Madison Rose Hurrelbrink.

Madison is the daughter of Brad and Kristin Hurrelbrink of Emlenton.

Awards presented to Madison were: the Spanish Award; the Charles Black Memorial Scholarship, the Tereesa & Richard Helmintoller Scholarship; Saint John’s Scholarship; an Emlenton Civic Club Scholarship; and the Energizing Tomorrows Leaders award.

Madison’s Senior activities include Cheerleading, Prom Committee, Student Council, and Ski Club

Maddison will attend PennWest Clarion University for a biology degree with a focus in pre-medicine to eventually obtain a DMD to become a dentist.
