Timothy E. “Tim” Russell, 70, of St. Petersburg, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Timothy was born in Emlenton on September 7, 1954. He was the son of the late Rev. Francis and Florence Bennett Russell.
He was a 1974 graduate of Punxsutawney Jr. Sr. Area High School. He was a member of Bethany Crossroads E.C. Church.
Tim had a strong work ethic and spent many years building churches and retired from Rosebud Mining as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and most especially camping with the “grandkids.”
He is survived by his wife, Linda L. “Lindy” Mattern Russell. The couple was married at the Timblin Church of the Nazarene by Tim’s father, the Rev. Francis Russell, on June 14, 1975. Also surviving are two daughters, Jamie A. Kearney and her husband, Michael, of Turkey City and Becky L. Kriebel and her husband, Terry, of St. Petersburg; six grandchildren, Gabriel Greggs and her husband, Tyler, of Turkey City, Andria Linamen of Charlotte, NC, Clhoe Linamen (Maddy) of St. Petersburg, Riley Kearney of Harrisville, Jacob Kriebel and his wife, Lyndsey, of St. Petersburg, and Maiah Kriebel of Grove City; a great-granddaughter, Jaclyn Kriebel of St. Petersburg; two brothers, Paul Russell and his wife, Judy, of St. Petersburg and Thomas Russell and his wife, Lorie, of Brookville; four sisters, Bertha Grace of Clendenin, WV, Ruth Pugh and her husband, Bruce, of Spokane, WA; Naomi Danser of New Jersey, and Lois Bossman and her husband, Stewart, of Stanton, VA; his mother-in-law, Linda A. Mattern of St. Petersburg; a brother-in-law, Steve Mattern, and his wife, Lisa, of St. Petersburg; a sister-in-law, Shari Causey and her husband, Rick, of Rosenburg, TX, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Russell and Robert Russell; his father-in-law, Arthur Mattern, and two brothers-in-law, Alan Grace and Ken Danser.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg, from 6–8 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2024, and on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 10–11 a.m. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Weaver, pastor of Bethany Crossroads E.C. Church, officiating. The interment will be in West Freedom Cemetery.
