Thomas V. “Tom” Clouse, 71, of Chicora, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born in Butler on January 16, 1953, he was the son of the late A. William “Bill” and Dorothy Oesterling Clouse.
Tom was a 1971 graduate of Butler Area High School and graduated from the Ivy Professional School of Art in Pittsburgh. He worked for more than 40 years at Armco/AK Steel in Butler, retiring from the maintenance department.
Tom was a family man who found immense joy in the time he spent with his loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished gatherings and creating memories with his family. His grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Pap Tom” or “Pappy,” were the light of his life, and he adored being a part of their lives. Whether it was a quiet moment at home or a family celebration, Tom’s greatest happiness came from being surrounded by those he loved.
An avid outdoorsman and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Tom enjoyed hunting and spending time in nature. He was also a talented carpenter, electrician, and builder, dedicating countless hours to constructing his own home.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Jyll D. Walker Clouse, whom he married on July 28, 1979, at St. Mark Church in Butler. He is also survived by three daughters: Lisa Steiner and her husband, Matt, of Chicora; Nicole Eckl and her husband, Matt, of Dallas, TX; and Lindsay Pennington and her husband, Doug, of Karns City. Additionally, he leaves behind four grandchildren: Hannah Steiner, Avery and Ethan Eckl, and Violet Pennington.
Tom is also survived by two brothers, Don Clouse and his wife, Mary, and Rick Clouse and his wife, Rosie, all of Butler; two sisters, Deb Baptiste of Shelocta and Patty Andreassi and her husband, Tim, of Butler; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler, with Pastor Mark Pastoria, officiating. The interment followed at Butler County Memorial Park.
