The newly fallen snow adds a touch of brightness to the Christmas Lights.
Looking for a little Christmas spirit? Over the river and to the Woods’ you go. As a matter of fact, to 401 Annisville Road, Parker, PA 16049. Meet Fred and Jamie Wood who turn their home each year into a winter wonderland of Christmas lights and sounds. What started as a friendly competition between a father and son years ago has blossomed into a country Christmas light show that is sure to put you in the “fa la la la la” Christmas spirit.
The Wood family begins preparing and sorting in September with the checking all the lights to make sure they are working. They begin setting the display up in their yard after the last green grass has been mowed.
For the Woods’, it has been mostly a family effort in the design and construction although friends have also lent a hand to the winter wonderland creation. “It definitely takes a lot of time to get together and to make sure everything is tied down as it can get pretty windy where we live. Since we have started we have added a thirty-two foot arch lighted tunnel that extends the length of our driveway.
The last few years we have added a music transmitter that talks to the other boxes connected to it so the lights are in sync with the music which can be transmitted through your car radio, stated Jamie Wood.
Each year a little more is added or changed to enhance the experience.
“We enjoy having the people stop and see the display and they are welcome to park along the road. It makes us happy to know they enjoy watching the show”.
Looking for a great family holiday event? Come stop by and see this unique display brought to you by the Wood family who’s hope and inspiration is to bring your family joy and hope this holiday season.
The official light begins on Thanksgiving with the display up and running thru mid January
