• The Emlenton Truck Plaza, Emlenton, held a Driver Appreciation Day on Sept. 17th, outdoors, in front of the fuel desk. Truck drivers and patrons were treated to pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw and deserts.

• On October 29th the Foxburg Free Library hosted a “History of the Clarion River” presentation in the main room. Dale Luthringer, a Cook Forest State Park environmental education specialist, discussed the history of our local river from the time of the Seneca Nation of the Iroquois Confederacy to the modern day.

• A-C Valley Class of 1974 held its 50th class reunion at the Foxburg Country Club. Approximately 44 classmates and spouses attended the reunion.
• The 2024 Moniteau Warrior Junior football team had an undefeated season! This group of boys, were ages 9 and 10, and had worked incredibly hard all season. They finished their regular season with an 8-0 record with 4 shut outs, 262 points on the board and only allowing 28 points against them.
• The Emlenton Vol. Fire Dept. held their annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser at the Emlenton Plaza Restaurant. Members of the Emlenton Fire Department were on hand to serve the dinners. The Plaza Restaurant provided all the food, cooks and the facility to show their support.
• The Milton Hershey School in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club Along the Allegheny hosted a free pre-holiday family fun night on November 26th at the Crawford Center in Emlenton. The evening included a free dinner and magic show for all to enjoy, after the Milton Hershey School presentation.
• Rose and Jack Ritchey celebrated their 65 year anniversary. The couple enjoyed a dinner with their family.
• ACV Falcons Capture the ABC Youth Sr. League Superbowl Trophy with a win over the C-L Wildcats. They say the AC Valley run game and big plays on defense made the difference in the game. The Falcons won the game by a score of 20 to 14.
• The Moniteau Junior Warriors won their ABC Youth Football League Super Bowl game by outscoring the Armstrong Braves by a score of 18 to 12 in overtime. Throughout the season the team scored 296 points and allowed only 46 points against them.
• Hero’s Angels Volunteers held their 8th annual “Holiday for Heroes” fundraiser that was held on November 3rd at the Petrolia VFD Social Hall. It was another successful fundraising event for our troops.
• An old-fashioned Christmas Celebration was held for Perry Township. On December 14th friends and neighbors came together to celebrate the magical holiday season at the David Wetzel Park in West Freedom.
• Big Foot was spotted along the banks of the Allegheny River in Emlenton on River Avenue. Drive by you still might spot him.
• A-C Valley Elementary Book Blast raised over $11,000. This was the schools third Book Blast.
• Rachel Brosnahan, an Emlenton resident, along with a team of 26 volunteers, from multiple churches, came together with one goal: to give the family of Kim and her grandson Spencer a home again after theirs was destroyed by hurricane Helene in North Carolina. Then they helped out another family, Dean and Renee.
• A Victorian Christmas concert was held in Lincoln Hall in Foxburg, with Dennis Geib and Friends. The Christmas concert was presented by the Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts.
• Winners of the Paint the Plow Art Contest were named. Indiana Area High School of Indiana County won the “Fan Favorite” award, which was determined by online voting through penndot.pa.gov/Paint ThePlow. Keystone High School of Clarion County was the honorable mention. Many schools in the area took part in the annual contest.
• The Venango Area Chamber of Commerce proudly announces Cynthia “Cindy” Urban as the 2024 Citizen of the Year. Cindy is a true trailblazer and dedicated community leader. Cindy has an unwavering commitment to the Venango County communities.
