Kerle Enters Race to Replace Oberlander in PA State House. Lisa Kerle of New Bethlehem, PA has officially announced her candidacy for the 63rd Legislative District in the Pennsylvania State House. Representative Donna Oberlander, who currently holds the seat, announced in December that she would not seek re-election.

Kerle, a lifelong Republican, has worked as a Constituent Services Specialist in Rep. Oberlander’s office for the past three years and four months.

Reagan Mays, of Knox, Places in Center for Entrepreneurship + Innovation (E+I) Entrepreneurship + Innovation (E+I) at Grove City Collge.

Reagan Mays ’27, a freshman Entrepreneurship major from Knox, Pa., placed in the competition for her Hygiene Hive, a room in schools that provides access to free hygiene products for needy kids. She also won the $100 Fan Favorite award.

• The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 10 invites the public to vote on 11 plows decorated by high school students in Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana, and Jefferson counties as part of the annual Paint the Plow program. Paint the Plow is a statewide outreach aimed at promoting winter driving safety and fostering appreciation for high school art programs and student creativity.

James Seeks Re-Election for 64th Legislative District . Lee James United States Navy Veteran and dedicated community leader, R. Lee James announced he is running for re-election in the 64th Legislative District of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives.

Cousin Eddie’s Crusaders Hold Benefit for Terry Thompson. Family and friends held a fundraiser for Terry Thompson who was diagnosed with cancer. The event was held at the Wolf’s Den Camping Resort, 308 Timberwolf Run in Knox on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

All Aboard - Historic Emlenton Train Display Makes Final Run on January 28, 2024.

What started in 1992 as a display built by the Emlenton Boy Scout Troop #41 and Scoutmaster Bruce Donald-son for the annual Old Fashioned Christmas in Emlenton made its final run in Emlenton. For thirty years the display and its locomotives have been a fixture in the Emlenton community.

Darlene Smail of Kittanning Township, Armstrong County has announced that she will seek the Republican nomination for the seat of retiring PA District 63 State Representative Donna Oberlander.

Threads Of Hope Moves to a New Location. Threads of Hope Resale Shop (formerly known as the Kids’ Closet in Petrolia/Fairview) has relocated and recently opened their store in the East Brady Community Center (the old East Brady High School) located at 502 Ferry Street, East Brady PA.

The store is a ministry of the Chicora United Methodist Church and offers gently used clothing, coats and shoes in all sizes, from infants to adults.

Cowansville American Legion Post 325 Hosts Armstrong County Annual Awards Ceremony

Members of veterans organizations from across Armstrong County converged on the Cowansville Roy Frick Booher American Legion Post 325on Sunday, January 28th to recognize two of its own Armstrong County veteran awardees for 2023.  The group also recognized a Dayton community member for her first place essay submission. Armstrong County American Legion Commander/Cowansville American Legion Post 828 Commander Harold “Frenchie” French (USN) served as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.

• Venango Catholic High School Closed At The End Of The School Year .

The members of the Venango Region Catholic School (VRCS) Association have announced that Venango Catholic High School in Oil City will close at the end of the 2023-2024 academic year.

Bridge Builders Community Foundations, Inc. announced its corporate relocation to new professional offices in a historic Victorian home on Elk Street near downtown Franklin.

“For nearly fifty years, Bridge Builders Community Foundations has served the residents of Clarion, Forest, and Venango counties through the distribution of scholarships and grants and the creation of charitable funds,” said Warren Thomas, board chair.

WoodFest 2024,made its debu in Clarion, on March 21st to 24th.

WoodFest 2024 featured interactive workshops and presentations as well as a variety of artisan vendors, chainsaw carvers, and food trucks that will populate both the indoor marketplace at the Clarion Mall and the outdoor marketplace at the Clarion County Park, offering a diverse range of products and activities for all ages.

WoodFest was not just an event; it was a homage to the state whose very name means “Penn’s Woods.” With over 100 species of trees, and 16.6 million acres of forest land, the commonwealth’s forests are a testament to biodiversity and the sustainable management practices that ensure their health and longevity.

An ARCA Event: World-acclaimed pianist Barbara Nissman maked her Lincoln Hall debut on Sunday, March 24, bringing her masterful, virtuosic bravura to the Steinway in a program of rapturous Romantic music.
