It was really cold Sunday night, December 1st, when St. Petersburg lit its Christmas Tree. The crowd was small, but no less enthusiastic! The children were anticipating the arrival of a certain someone in a red coat and white beard, along with his wife. Hmmm…who could that have been??
Tabby Wetzel, the Emcee, opened the festivities with a prayer, followed by the singing of Christmas songs...some led by children...and they were awesome!! Then it was time to light our tree!! What a wonderful start to the Christmas Season!!
(Pictured below) Tina Buchanan read the Christmas Story from the Bible, followed by “Twas The Night Before Christmas”, which was read by Miss Marcia and Lager.
A couple more songs were sung, and then two very special guests arrived on the Fire Truck!! Santa and Mrs. Claus came in waving to everyone and the children (and some of us adults) were pretty excited!! The kiddos talked to Santa and Mrs. Claus and received goodie bags. There were cookies and hot chocolate for all.
Thank you to everyone who braved the cold to come out and kick off the holiday season!! The St. Petersburg community hopes that everyone had a very Merry Christmas and will have a Happy and Healthy New Year!!
The St. Petersburg Events Committee would like to thank everyone who helped make the 3rd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting possible:
