Sara B. Hopper


Sara B. Hopper, 66, of Foxburg, passed away surrounded by her loving family at her residence.

Born in Butler on April 25, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Jr. and Mamie Clark Bartley.

The youngest of eleven children, she spent her childhood in Ikeytown and West Monterey before moving to Foxburg in 1968. She graduated from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in 1976.

She was employed by several area nursing homes for 27 years as a caregiver. She was very devoted to her family and strong in spirit and character. She enjoyed the Pittsburgh Steelers, camping, watching old westerns, collecting handbags, and spending time with her family and beloved Boston Terrier, Greta, and her Terrier, Zoey.

She married Roderick V. Hopper on October 11, 1975, who survives, and together they raised three children, Heidi Hopper, Joseph Hopper, and Emily Hopper. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by one sister: Kate (Terry) Kinney. One brother: Tom (Shelly) Bartley both of Parker. Her grandchildren: Alyssa, Grace, Lilian, Katie, Floyd, Thomas, Betty Jane, and Ryan. Great grandchildren: Octavia, Oakleigh, Lana Rose. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and four sisters-in-law.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters, and a great nephew Caleb Kiely.

The family would like to thank the caregivers over the last six months and the love and care provided by Clarion Forest VNA Hospice in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Clarion Hospital Cancer Center.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Wednesday, September 25, from 1–5 p.m. at Buzard Funeral Home in Parker (201 S. Wayne St.). A memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Foxburg Cemetery.
