Rosa Ardelia Tharp Hedrick, 92, of Karns City, Fairview Twp., Butler County, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the Chicora Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Rosa was born in Albion on February 11, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Dana and Virginia Thomas Tharp. She graduated from Albion High School in June 1950.
Rosa was a homemaker until her children were older and then worked at Sugarcreek Rest Home for a few years. She volunteered with the Chicora Blue Tones, Brownies, and Girl Scout Troops. Rosa belonged to the women’s bowling league at Bruin Lanes.
She enjoyed traveling in her RV to different beaches, playing basketball with her children, Bingo, crossword puzzles, and cooking. She loved babysitting her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
Rosa was preceded in death by her former husband, Thaddeus Junior Hedrick, whom she married in Randolph County, WV on July 11, 1950.
She is survived by her children, Christine Hedrick of Franklin, Dennis Hedrick his wife, Denise, of East Brady, Catherine Moore and her husband Bill, of Butler, Cynthia Switzer of Karns City, Debra Angert of East Brady, Donna Cumberland and her husband, Rick, of Karns City, and Michael Hedrick of Karns City. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Hedrick; three brothers, Lester, Cecil and Frank Tharp; a sister, Alma Tharp Frombach, and two sons-in-law, Kevin Switzer and Danny Angert.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main Street, Karns City, from 4-7 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2025. A funeral service will be Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with the Rev. Pete Sapp, pastor of Trinity Church, Bradys Bend, officiating.
