Robert S. Vensel

Robert S. Vensel, 83, of Bruin, passed away late Wednesday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born in Butler, Pa., on September 9, 1941.

He was the son of the late Harlen James and Myrna Heeter Vensel.

He served in the 2nd armored division of the United States Army from 1962-1964 and was part of Operation Big Lift in Germany. He remained in the reserves until 1968. A hard worker, he worked for Mike Mostowy and Richards Coal Co. He later began a career with Bruin Oil Co., Quaker State, which became Petrowax, Allied Signal, where he retired as a Retort Operator.

Bob enjoyed watching the History Channel, old Westerns, the Byron Jackson Auto, and NASA programming. He also enjoyed hunting with his flintlock and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Sue Vensel, who he married on July 31, 1965. His children: Brenda (Stacy) Kellerman of Red Lion, PA; Doug (Kimberly) Vensel of Hamilton, OH; and Audrey Gordon of Nashville, TN. A sister: Janet Page of Chicora.

His grandchildren: Felicia Kellerman, Katelyn Edwards, Zakery Gordon, Keira Vensel, Cheyenne Ball, Nicholas Vensel, Alexander Vensel, Dakota Ball. Great grandchildren: Arabella Snow, Cayson Snow,  Royee Black.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Jim Vensel, Joanne Emery, Bonnie May Vensel, Milo "Bill" Vensel. Dean "Sonny" Vensel, Larry Vensel. A grandson: Quinton Loyal Gordon.

Private family visitation will be held at Buzard Funeral Homes in Parker, PA, and interment will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery.
