Robert Allen “Bg” Grimm, 73, native of Emlenton, passed away Saturday morning October 19, 2024, at Hospice of the Valley - Hospice House in Youngstown, OH. He was surrounded by his family, daughter Lynn Grimm, of Cleveland Heights, OH, daughter Leslie Pannelle and her husband Scott Pannelle, of Columbus, OH.
Robert was born on November 14, 1950, the son of Robert J. and Ruth L. Grimm of Emlenton, PA. Although Bob was an only child, he grew up with his cousins who were as close to him as siblings.
A 1968 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School. He excelled in the arts and loved being on the basketball team.
On June 10, 1968, he married Melanie A. Dreibelbis, who passed away in January of this year. They made their first home in Pittsburgh, PA, where Bg went to The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. In 1972, they moved to Boardman, Ohio. Known as Bg to most, he worked in advertising for 45 years as an Art Director - specialties in layout, design, and illustration, where he received many awards for his work. Bg’s greatest passion was illustration. You could find him working on a project or two or simply doodling. Regardless, he was always illustrating in some way. Other areas of interest were photography, fishing, and having some beers with friends and family. He had a knack for making friends or connections everywhere he went with his unique personality.
In addition to his daughters and son-in-law, Bob is survived by his granddaughter, Erin Ellis Johnson and grandson, Jack Oscar Johnson both from Cleveland Heights, OH; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jeffrey Dreibelbis and his wife Lorraine of Williston, VT, Cathy Horner and her husband David of Boalsburg, PA, and Linda Marshall of Boalsburg, PA. He also loved five nieces and nephews and their children and cousins Carol Grimm Bowzer of Emlenton, Ruthie Grimm Kluge of Franklin, Harry Grimm, and his wife Sue of Enon Valley, PA.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home Inc. in Emlenton.
