A wide variety of original artwork created by artists from northwestern Pennsylvania has already been registered for the Ninth Annual Nature Art Showcase and Sale set for February 7 and 8, 2025, inside the lobby of the Barrow-Civic Theatre in downtown Franklin, PA.
While there is no residency requirement as to where the individual artist lives, the scenes, activities, and examples of nature’s wonders must represent those found in the northwestern corner of the Commonwealth. To date, registrations have been received by the Council on Greenways and Trails (CGT) and Penn Soil Resource Conservation and Development Council (Penn Soil) from makers residing in Clarion, Crawford, Forest, Venango, and Warren Counties.
Registration packets are available for pick-up at the following locations: Penn Soil’s office in the Warren County Conservation Center on Conewango Avenue in Warren; Venango Area Chamber of Commerce office on Seneca Street in Oil City; third floor Community Development office of City Hall in Oil City; Titusville Council on the Arts on West Spring Street in Titusville; French Creek Framing and Art on Market Street in Meadville; and Victorian City Art & Frame on Liberty Street in Franklin. The registration materials are also posted on CGT’s website www.nwpagreenways.org.
The artwork may be 2-D or 3-D. Each artist may register one or two items; registration is capped at 75 artists; all participating artists must pre-register. While some artists simply enjoy displaying their distinctive works, most indicate a retail price for each piece, with those prices good only during the event dates. An event commission of 15% of the selling price is withheld by the two organizations hosting this event, to offset event expenses for this free public two-day event conducted during the annual Franklin-On-Ice festival. Public hours for the art exhibition are Friday, Feb. 7— 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 8 —10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Attendees vote for the “People’s Choice Awards” for their favorites in the 2-D category, the 3-D category, and for the first time this year a topical category of “Pollinators” depicting critters ranging from bees to bats, and the plants/fruits/vegetables which they pollinate.
For an artist’s information to appear in the printed exhibition booklet, completed registrations need to be received by January 8, 2025.
