National Diabetes Prevention Program Coming to Scrubgrass Grange

Nationally Recognized Program Breaking New Ground in Southern Venango County

Emlenton– One in three adults has a serious medical condition called Pre-Diabetes, and 90% are completely unaware. Pre-Diabetes is when blood sugar levels are too high, but not high enough to be diagnosed as Type 2 Diabetes. The great news is that Pre-Diabetes can be reversed through small changes in daily habits.

On Thursday, June 27th, the first session of The National Diabetes Prevention Program will be held at the Scrubgrass Grange, 5104, Emlenton-Clintonville Road, Emlenton. Doors will open at 1:30 pm, and the class will begin promptly at 2 pm.

The class will meet weekly for three months and then bi-monthly. The goals of the program are to bring lifestyle changes to support healthy eating habits and improve overall health. Funding through the PA Department of Health means there will be no out-of-pocket cost to anyone 18 or older who would like to enroll and greatly improve their health.

The program is brought to you by the Sight Center, based in Erie, which has offered this program since 2017 in an effort to stop the serious vision loss and blindness that often results from Diabetes.
