Nancy Helen Gross

Nancy Helen Gross, 77, of Foxburg and Tempe, Arizona, passed away at her home in Foxburg early Sunday morning, September 8, 2024, following treatment for metastatic melanoma.

Nancy was born in Butler on November 2, 1946.  She was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Margaret I. “Marty” Sloan Gross.

She was a 1964 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg and graduated from Thiel College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Education. Nancy was an elementary school teacher for 29 years, retired, and dove into a new 12-year career in software and product development.

Nancy enjoyed traveling with her cat “Millie” in their Airstream and was an active member in several Airstream clubs, including the Wally Byam Caravan Club International, Indie Streamers, AZ Airstream, and 4 Corners groups. She and Millie attended many of the clubs’ gatherings and rallies. Nancy enjoyed crocheting and the company of her family and friends from coast to coast. Most recently, she enjoyed attending her 60th class reunion in Foxburg.

            Nancy is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) S. Campbell and her partner, Thomas O’Mara of Pittsburgh; her brother, David H. Gross of Chandler, AZ; her cousins and their wives, Bill and Diana Sloan and Bob and Kathy Sloan all of Butler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Gross.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from 4-7 p.m. Friday, September 20.  A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21 at the Memorial Church of Our Father Episcopal in Foxburg. The interment will be in the Foxburg Cemetery.
