Maree Marlene “Squirt” Lowers

Maree Marlene “Squirt” Lowers, 88, of Chicora, formerly of Fairview, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 12, 2024, at Quality Life Services, Sugarcreek while in the company of her loving family.

Marlene was born in Chicora on April 5, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Ervin J. and Pearl Thompson Ellenberger.

She attended Fairview Twp. Karns City Schools. She was of the Protestant faith. Marlene enjoyed bowling, golfing, walking, and sitting on her porch swing visiting with her neighbors. She looked forward to attending card club and going out to eat with her friends. Squirt was a well-known and talented seamstress and she made many of her daughters’ clothes. In her earlier years, she and her husband, “Mac” enjoyed traveling in their motorhome.

Marlene was married in Chicora on August 30, 1952, to Donald L. “Mac” Lowers. Mr. Lowers preceded her in death in 1998.

Surviving are four daughters, Deborah D. Fleeger and Leah D. Andreassi and her husband, Michael, all of Karns City, Kimberlie M. Saeler and her husband, David, of Chicora, and Angela L. Merchant of Karns City; six grandchildren and their spouses, Bryan (Alisa) Fleeger, Bethany (Jeff )Stewart, Nicholas (Kayla) Andreassi, Tiffany (Matthew) McNany, Denise (Michael) Crawford, and Tammy Larimore; fourteen great-grandchildren, Marissa (Adam) Hiles, Cailyn (Jhan) Fry, Logan Fleeger, Karsyn Stewart, Kinsley Stewart, Emelia and Lola Andreassi, Mason and Mackenzie McNany, Aaron Welker, Dakota Crawford, and Chloe, Carly and Landon Larimore; four great-great-grandchildren, Emilia and Case Hiles and Brynlee Fry, Paislee Larimore, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Richard Fleeger and Jerry Merchant, and a grandson-in-law, Toby Larimore.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Barger, a longtime family friend, officiating. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.
