James "Jim" Terrence O'Rourke, Sr., 77, of Petrolia Pa, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024. He was born in Wilkinsburg, Pa., on May 9, 1947, to the late Aaron and Evelyn O'Rourke and was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.
For close to 30 years, Jim worked as a crane and backhoe operator for Dick McCall Inc., where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Outside of work, Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, farming, and fishing. His passion for nature and hands-on way of life left a lasting impact on those around him. Jim was a member of the Boyers Sportsman Association.
Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janet M (Dobrowsky) O'Rourke, his five children, Tammy Claypoole of Providence, PA. Pam (Jeff) Setzenfand of Valencia, PA., Jimmy O’Rourke of Butler, PA., LT Col. (USA) John (Tarra) Bopp of Columbia, TN. and Heather O’Rourke of Koppel, PA. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Dawn Marie O’Rourke. Jim was a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Jim was a cherished brother to his four surviving sisters: Patricia (Art) Debold of Irwin, PA., Mary Martha (Tim) Koeslch of Irwin, PA., Kathleen “Cookie” O’Rourke of Greensburg, PA., and Jackie (Bruce) Rosyak of Iriwn, PA., He is reunited in passing with his three brothers, Buddy, Vincent, and Skip. His surviving brother, Michael (Chris) O'Rourke of Irwin, holds his memory close.
Jim was a mentor to many and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him. His loyal dog, Sadie, will also miss him dearly.
Friends will be received at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home in Eau Claire (201 S. Washington St.) on Tuesday, September 10, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. Funeral Service will follow visitation at 8 P.M. at the funeral home. The interment will be held at Hillview Cemetery in Fairview, TWP.
