
J. Yvonne Weckerly, 88, of Callensburg, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, following a second round of cancer.
Von was born in Callensburg on June 14, 1936. She was the daughter of Paul and Wilda (Bashline) Troutman. Von attended Sligo High School.
She married Dana Weckerly on December 23, 1951, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1998.
Von worked at Gallaghers Plaza, baking and cooking in the kitchen and also cleaned houses when she was able to do so.
She was a member of the Callensburg United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary in Callensburg and also a founder of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a proud lifelong Democrat.
In her spare time, she enjoyed, reading, walking, baking, cooking, board games, playing the piano, doing puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.
Von leaves behind six children; Shirley (Jerry) Runyan of Knox, Charlotte Runyan of Callensburg, Dana (Chris) Weckerly Jr. of Cranberry, Myrna Fox of Kentucky, Alice (Allen) McCall of Parker, and Kevin Weckerly of Warren, 12 grand-children; Clint Runyan, Chris Runyan, Joe Runyan, Joni Runyan, Chris Lutz, Jason (Jake) Weckerly, Nicole Dehner, Jeremy Fox, Stephenie Fox, Arika McCall, Rose Charney and Douglas Weckerly, 19 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Von is also survived by three siblings; Paul (Lou) Troutman of Callensburg, David (Janet) Troutman of Rimersburg, and Diane Ochs of Greenville.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Heeter, two sons-in-law, Chuck Runyan and Steve Fox, and two brothers-in-law, Tom Ochs and Sunny Heeter.
Von's family will receive friends from 10 AM to 12 PM noon on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Varner Funeral Home in Rimersburg. A funeral service will be held the same day at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 PM noon, with the pastor Andrew Gundlach, officiating.
The interment will follow in the Callensburg Cemetery.
