IRENE MAE “Babe” ALWORTH, 90, of Parker, formerly of West Freedom, passed away Monday afternoon, October 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Parker Personal Home where she had resided in recent years.
Born in Perry Twp., Clarion Co. on November 18, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Rhoda Keefer Stewart.
A graduate of the former Parker High School, she had been employed for over thirty-two years in the office of Central Electric Co-Op (REA) of Parker. On November 5, 1952, she married George R. “Dick” Alworth, who passed away Nov. 18, 2020.
“Babe” was a longtime member of the former West Freedom United Methodist Church. She was a member of the former Rebekah Lodge at West Freedom, and Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 60 of Parker (Now Clarion). She had been an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Perry Twp. VFD.
Surviving are two daughters Janice (Brad) Horner of Parker and Patty (Roy) Alworth of Rimersburg; two sons: Rod (Karen) Alworth and Tom (Michelle) Alworth, all of Parker; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister Susie (Roger) Crick of Rimersburg; brother-in-law David (Rhonda) Alworth of Eldorado; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, husband, and siblings: sisters Alice “Toot” Kirshler, Jane Alworth, and Betty Williams; brothers John and Clifford Stewart.
Visitation will be at 2–4 and 6–8 on Friday, October 11, 2024, at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 So. Wayne Ave., Parker, with her funeral service at 8:00 PM on Friday in the funeral home. Pastor Charles Cline of Parker Presbyterian Church will officiate. She will be laid to rest with her late husband on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM in Concord Presbyterian Cemetery, Perry Twp.
