Forsythe’s Annual Snowball Kickball Set for Feb. 15th

Now Fifteen years in the making, Forsythe’s Annual Snowball Kickball Fund-raiser, has done just that, “Snowballed”, all out of a garage and a family’s pay it forward mentality. And pay it forward they have, raising nearly a quarter million dollars in the last fifteen years.

Every third Saturday in February Vince and Carrie Forsythe raise money to help families and kids who are battling setbacks, afflictions and life threatening diseases. In all, the Forsythes’ along with the community support have helped over twenty-five families over the last fifteen years. Money also goes to help support the Clarion County Shriners.

This year the event will help Madelyn Stewart of St.Petersburg and Kendra Mansberger who is a 5th grader at A-C Valley Elementary School.

Madelyn Stewart

__________________

Madelyn Stewart, age 15, has courageously fought a rare mitochondrial disease (Pearsons Syndrome and Kearns-Sayre Syndrome) since age 1, defying all the odds against her.

However, after a recent cochlear implant surgery she has experienced some health setbacks; setbacks that have caused her to add an already long list of specialists and more supplements to aid her health.

Although Maddie endures being deaf, blind, in kidney failure and type 1 diabetic, she is very thankful for the life she has regardless of how different it may look. Her family is very thankful for and any help to aide her care.

Kendra Mansberger

________________

Kendra Mansberger is a 10 year old 5th grader at AC Valley. In September, Kendra experienced significant dizziness and fell over at school. Through testing at Children’s Hospital, it was discovered that Kendra has a brain tumor at the base of her brain stem. Due to the location and the growth of the tumor, it is considered inoperable. Kendra had a follow up MRI in December with Children’s Hospital to evaluate the growth of the tumor. If the tumor begins to grow further down on the brain stem, a plan for radiation or chemotherapy will need to be created to keep the tumor from disrupting motor function. Kendra will have a lifetime of monitoring the progression of her tumor.
