Emlenton Summer Festival Planned for July 12 and 13

The Emlenton Summer Festival is hard at work putting the last minute details together for the annual Emlenton Summer Festival. The festival is held annually the second weekend in July. This year the dates are Friday July 12th and Saturday July 13th. And . . . the main events will be held on Main Street between Main and Kerr Ave., and 7th and Main St. Other locations as noted.

(The Emlenton Firemen’s Parade always has many local non-profit groups, classic cars and firetrucks from all over a 4-county area! A summer-time highlight.)

The festival starts on Friday, July 12 with a Junior Fishing Derby at Kahle Lake (North Shore) and the town-wide yard sales on Friday at 8 am. While you’re in town be sure to visit the Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department and enjoy their Strawberry and food booth, which is always a festival favorite. The strawberry social begins at 11 A.M. and will continue until 7 P.M. On the menu is their famous hot sausage and kielbasa, fresh cut French fries, hot dogs, hamburger and their super special Strawberry shortcake and ice cream. This year the firemen will be raffling off a “Camp Chef 600 Heavy Duty Grill. The raffle will be drawn live at the Summer Festival Parade. The firemen’s strawberry festival will also be held on Saturday, starting at 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. or until out.

(Trucks of many colors will be at the parade. Yellow, Green, Red, White & Blue!)

A Kids Bike Race is scheduled to start from Hughes Park at 6:30 P.M. Arrive early to register.

On Saturday, July 13th, you’ll find fun for the whole family including kids’ events, entertainment, food, craft and novelty vendors on Main Street. A Pinewood Derby is scheduled in the Crawford Center Gym at 2 P.M. Contest winners for the Baby Beautiful and the cutest pet will be announced at 3 P.M. from Main Street. And get your bets in for the 4 P.M. Rubber Ducky Race at Mineral springs Park.

Get to town early for the Annual Fireman’s Parade that starts at 6 P.M. Then the festival will conclude with a fabulous fireworks display at dusk.

More details will be advertised in The Progress News next issue.
