East Brady Area Development Corporation Announces Beautification Awards At Community Picnic

The East Brady Area Development Corporation’s (EBADC) first annual Beautification Contest wrapped up on July 23rd when three impartial judges reviewed the nominations submitted by area residents. The judges were Lee Ann Ishman, president of the Clarion County Garden Club, Hind Karns, Tourism Director, Clarion County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) and Eric Funk, Community Development Coordinator, Clarion County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC). Judges rated nominees on curb appeal, maintenance, planning and creativity. The winners received a “Beautification Awardee” yard sign with their name on it, an East Brady mug, a certificate and a lifetime membership to EBADC. Awards were presented at the EBADC 70th Anniversary Community Picnic on August 3rd at the East Brady Riverfront Park.

The winner in the residential category was Peggy Wimer, with a close second Kay and Bill Johns. Honorable mentions go to Sheila and Bill Markel, Dane and Angel Potts, Carolyn and John Olszak, Rita Welton and Michele and Vince Bartoe.



Diana and Bruce Hufnagle, winners of the Business/Church/Public property Beautification Award


 

The winner in the Business/Church/Public Property category was Hufnagle’s with a close second Allegheny Hills Retirement Residence. Honorable mentions go to East Brady Methodist Church, East Brady First Presbyterian Church, Uni-Mart and the St. Eusebius Cemetery.

The Community Picnic, despite the untimely downpours, was well attended. Guests enjoyed a full, free picnic lunch. Winner of the 50/50 raffle was Kathy Frederick. Remaining food was donated to the Mechling- Shakley Veteran’s Center.

All are welcome to attend the next monthly meeting of EBADC held at the Arnold Beabout Community Center, room 14, in East Brady at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 27.
