Diane Louise (Weller) Hoffman

Diane Louise Hoffman, 77, passed peacefully on August 12, 2024, four days after her birthday at her Gallatin County home, surrounded by her family, following a courageous forty-four-month battle with glioblastoma.

Diane was born in Franklin, Pennsylvania August 8, 1947, to Donald Francis Weller and Jeanne Louise (LeVier) Weller.

She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.

Diane was raised with an older brother, Jim, in Emlenton, Pennsylvania. Her father was an accountant at Quaker State Oil Company and her mother was a homemaker. Diane always spoke fondly of her life growing up in Emlenton, and each summer she returned with her children and grandchildren to her home on the Allegheny River. In high school, Diane worked at the family restaurant in Emlenton. She graduated from Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in 1965, then Point Park College’s, Pittsburgh Playhouse, majoring in theater, before joining Northwest Airlines in 1968 as a reservations agent and retiring as Manager of Interline Ticketing and Sales at Air Wisconsin in 1990 to be a stay-at-home mom.

In 1979, Diane met her future husband, Robert Lee Hoffman, an Air Wisconsin pilot from Louisville, Kentucky. They married in Wailua Kaui, Hawaii in 1981, and lived with their two sons, in Menasha, Wisconsin, until moving to Boone County, Kentucky in 1990.

Diane was an active Boone County High School "Band Mom” until her sons, Justin and Nicholas set off to college, after which she and her husband built a home in Gallatin County. She was an accomplished artist, musician, and gardener who built a successful online craft business. Diane was also an accomplished golfer, who often played on the Sugar Bay Golf Course women’s league. She was a woman of strong Christian faith and a longtime member of Drury’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Her selfless nature, friendliness, and huge caring heart are the traits which she will be remembered. Her passing comes as an immeasurable loss, but the love that she shared with us will forever remain in our hearts, knowing the world is an immensely better place because she was in it.

Diane is survived by her husband of forty-three years, Robert Lee Hoffman, son Scott Dennis Miner (Cara) of Punta Gorda, FL, Justin Michael Hoffman (Clara R. Velez) and Nicholas James Hoffman (Kelsey) of Boone County, KY, two stepsons, Robert Louis Hoffman and Russell Thomas Hoffman (Leanne) of Vancouver, WA, brother James Donald Weller of Paris, TN, brother Donald Francis Weller Jr. of Oil City, PA, sister Toni Lee Weller of Durham, NC, Aunt Betty Klinger of Emlenton, PA. Surviving grandchildren include Sophia Madelyn Hoffman of San Antonio, TX, Norah Esthar Hoffman, Emiliana Louise Hoffman of Boone County, KY,  Sophia Miner (Dominic Johnson), Irvine, CA, Aleasha Price of O’Neil, NE, Josie Miner of Norfolk, NE, Ryan Miner of Lincoln, NE, Caeden Miner of Punta Gorda, FL, Wyatt Miner of Conroe, TX, Henry Miner of Punta Gorda, FL. Surviving great-grandchildren include Miley Schaefer, Samuel Price, Forest Ronk, Charlotte Ronk, Nathan Price, and Jacob Price.

Diane was preceded in death by her father, mother, grandparents, a step-grandson, and several uncles and aunts.

A gathering of family and friends will take place later in Emlenton, PA, where her remains will be placed to rest next to her mother. Diane will be missed beyond measure and loved forever.
