Martinsburg Church of Bruin, located at 128 East Main Street in Bruin, will host a community hymn sing from 2-4 P.M. on Saturday, March 29. Everyone is invited and welcome to attend. Area guitarist and vocalist, Ron Knapp, will be on hand to offer a varied genre of country-gospel selections. All through the afternoon, many an opportunity will be had to participate in “group sings” as voices are lifted up in hymns of meditation, faith and praise. For selected hymns, the background surrounding their “inspiration” will be shared. Plans for the hymn sing are still evolving, so there is a good chance that other members of the community will make themselves available to share with all in music and song.
Following the hymn sing, the Planning Committee for the 2025 “Bruin Community Day and Church in the Park Celebration,” scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 16-17 at the Bruin Municipal Park, will host a “Chile and Chicken Noodle Soup” Fundraiser Dinner from 4:30-6:30 P.M. in the social room of the Martinsburg Church. The cost of the Dinner will be “donation only.”
The Planning Committee for the 2025 “Bruin Community Day and Church in the Park Celebration,” is also in the process of planning a “Community Bingo” Fundraiser for later in the Summer and has made arrangements with local craftsmen to hand craft a solid maple gun cabinet to be raffled off as an additional fundraising activity. A limited number of raffle tickets will be made available for the gun cabinet offering. Please keep watching “The Progress News” for further advertising and information on all these events.
