Clarion Summerfest Begins July 5th

Clarion Summer Fest kicks off the second event of the year “HomeGrown” with a focus on celebrating local culture. Some exciting new events have been added this year including a Walking History Tour, Artist-In-Residence, and the Home Chef Bake-Off.

On Friday, July 5th there will be a Stars Over Clarion planetarium show at Donald Peirce Science Center at 7:00 pm and Samantha Sears is performing at the Mechanistic Brewing Company concert from 6-9 pm and J & C Brick Oven Pizza will be onsite.

On Saturday, July 6th pop up shops featuring a wide variety of makers will line Main Street in Clarion from 9 am - 3 pm. There will be street musicians at various locations along Main Street.

A kids scavenger hunt from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm is on the schedule again this year, every child who participates will receive a prize. Directions for the scavenger hunt can be picked up at the Summer Fest tent on Sixth Avenue.

Join Carly Fusilli at 11:00 am for a fun yoga class in Veteran’s Memorial Park on West Main Street.

Meet local historian Melanie Parker at 11:00 am at the corner of 8th Avenue and Main Street for a walking history tour and learn about the history of Clarion’s Main Street.

The Home Chef Bake Off contest is a fun new event and this year’s dish is ham loaf. The contest will be held from noon - 1 pm at the corner of 6th Avenue and Main Street. Email thelocalclarioncounty@gmail.com for details.

The Artist-In-Residence event is the vision of Summer Fest Director Nancy Hanna and will feature local artist Jillian Cota. The community is invited to join Jillian from 1 - 3pm on Sixth Avenue to help her construct a participa-tional canvas painting.

There is lots of fun scheduled for the kids in the KidsZone from 1 - 3 pm at 6th Avenue and Main Street. Charlie The Jester will be in the house to do magic shows and make balloon animals. Fiercely Fancy Faces will also be present to do face painting and Miss Fran will be helping children plant flowers they can take home. There are no charges or fees for KidsZone activities.

The HomeGrown Summer Fest will wind down with live music by Z Town Street Band and the Where The Wild Rose Goes food truck from 5 - 8 pm at Mechanistic Brewing Company.
