Charles K. Ferris, 87, of Emlenton, Chestnut Ridge, Richland Twp., Clarion County, spent his final day in the comfort of his home with his son and daughter by his side, and passed away late Tuesday evening, December 24, 2024, in the company of his son.
Charles was born at home in Fisher, Clarion County, on February 15, 1937. He was the son of the late Lewis and Ruth Dolby Ferris.
He attended school in Fisher, and he was a life member of the Carpenter’s Union Local # 274 in Pittsburgh, joining that union in 1963. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors, and he loved having visitors and spending time with his grandkids, to whom he was affectionately “Grandpa” or “Grandpa Boat.” Additionally, one would never catch him without the company of his dogs, “Snoop and Speedy”. He was also a faithful member of the Turkey City Church of God.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Donna L. Sayers Ferris, married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Knox on December 30, 1962. Mrs. Ferris preceded him in death on November 11, 2015.
Surviving is a son, Steve Ferris and his wife, Christine, of Emlenton; a daughter, Beverly J. Glenn and her husband, Tim, of Jamestown, NY; six grandchildren, Dr. Hunter Ferris and his wife, Tiffany, of Seneca, Jessica DiMarco and her husband, Giona, of Meadville, Trapper Ferris and his wife, Alyssa, of Greenville, Archer Ferris of Emlenton, Andrea Gunnell and her husband, Brian, of Falconer, NY , and Reid Matecki of Falconer, NY; seven great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Wilder, and Gemma Ferris, Giovanna “Milly” DiMarco, Jeffrey, Ripp, and Cabinne Gunnell; his siblings, Marie “Toots” Reedy, Gene Ferris and his wife, Nancy, Ann Troutman Miller, and Lewis “Pete” Ferris and his wife, Linda, as well as a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Belinda, and siblings, Peggy Fleming, Joanne Bailey, and John Ferris.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2024. A funeral service followed from the funeral home at 4 p.m. with Rev. Korona Say, pastor of the Turkey City Church of God, officiating. The interment will be in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery near Turkey City.
