C. R. “Pistol Pete” Hasenflu

C. R. “Pistol Pete” HASENFLU, 88, of St. Petersburg, Pa. passed away Friday evening, January 24, 2025, at the Butler Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health.

Born in Summit Twp., Butler Cp. on March 16, 1936, he was the son of the late James N. and Ada Snyder Hasenflu.

He had been employed by the former Glass Containers Corp. at Parker and the Rosebud Mining Corp.

“Pete” served the City of Parker as police chief for several years, as well as Civil Defense Co-ordinator for the Parker area.

He proudly served his Country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, from where he was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. Serving from 1954 to 1957, herded the NDSM and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora (Butler) and the Marine Bantam League of Butler. Pete was proud to be instrumental in the idea, design, and installation of the Fallen Soldier monument recently erected in front of the former VAMC, Butler, on New Castle Road.

Survived by wife Maryanne “Cookie” Hasenflu; son Michael “Mike” Hasenflu of Butler;  sister Sandra Stewart of Clarion and brother Earl Hasenflu of Florida; two grand and three great-grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by siblings William, Nicholas, Emma (Karnes), and Mildred (Hasenflu).

No services are currently planned, but a Veteran Memorial Service at the monument at VAMC will be held at a later date.
