16th Annual Otto Schiberl Memorial Ride Keeps on Giving

The 16th Annual Otto Schiberl Memorial Ride turned in some fantastic numbers again. This year 287 riders took to the trail and raised over $13,000 for the Boys and Girls Club Along The Allegheny, $13, 318 to be exact.

The annual event is in memory of the founder of Otto’s Tavern, Otto Schiberl who started Otto’s Tavern in 1968. This year the event was also in memory of Cindy Mong with donations given in memory of other loved ones as well.

Otto’s and The Boys and Girls Club would like to thank everyone who participated in any way to make the event such a big success.

A special thanks to the riders, shirt sponsors and all who purchased tickets to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club.

A huge shout out to the staff and volunteers from Otto’s Tavern and AmeriCorps members Mia and Andrea for all their help.

The memorial ride included a continental breakfast at Otto’s, a lunch at Ray’s Hot Spot in Marienville and a pig roast back at Otto’s prepared by Uncle Ken!

The ride included stops at the Knotty Pines, Ray’s Hot Spot, The Blue Jay, Cougar Bob’s, the Seldom Inn and the Washington House in Fryburg before returning to Otto’s.

The Boys and Girls Club held at Chinese auction, a raffle for Grill & Chill package, a raffle for a kayak and accessories donated by UFP Parker and a Robot sweeper donated by Kathy Gold. Also donated was an original water color painting by Andor P-jobb who serves on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club Along The Allegheny.

The winner of the kayak package was Laura Jack, pictured here. The winner of the water color painting was Rachel Cullen of Erie and the robot sweeper went to Mindy Stahlnaker. The grill package was won by Justin Hellsworth of Pittsburgh.

Special thanks to Ermes Distributor for the Miller Lite giveaways, IGA for the donuts and Cait Danielle of Allegheny River Rolls for the delicious cinnamon rolls.

Brad Rapp, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club is grateful for all Otto’s has done for the club. “The Boys and Girls Club is lucky to have a great relationship with Otto’s and all the patrons. In such a tough economy it is amazing to see such a tremendous turnout and support. I always tell our kids at the club “you have to get up and show up if you want to make a difference”. Thank you to everyone for getting up and showing up to make a difference in our community and for our members.

Over the last 16 years the event has raised over $100,000 for the Boys & Girls Club Along The Allegheny.

The event also raised $508.32 for Natasha Best and Cory Smith who lost everything in a house fire days before the event.

Thank You!
