Shippenville Borough Celebrates 125 Years - Event moved to the Fire Hall

Shippenville Borough will celebrate its 125th Anniversary on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Woodburn Park on South Street.
The historic celebration will be held from 12 Noon to 3:00 PM. (Due to rain, the event has been moved to the fire hall on Main Street)
A commemorative book of Shippenville’s 125 years will be on hand for sale. The book contains 82 pages and features its founding fathers, many historic photos and present businesses. The book may be purchased for $5.00 on this day only. The regular price is $8.00.

Internet Safety Lecture

The Internet has drastically changed the way that children interact with the world. They have access to in-depth knowledge, tools to express their creativity, and people from all over the world. Yet along with offering a fascinating, new way to connect with the world, the Internet also offers new risks: cyberbullying, exposure to inappropriate material, online predators and especially revealing too much personal information.
 

Memorial Ride in Memory of Otto Schiberl

Otto’s Tavern of Emlenton will be holding their 6th Annual Memorial Poker Ride on June 7, 2014. The ride is in memory of Otto Schiberl who was the founder of Otto’s tavern. Registration will be from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Cost is $20 single rider and $30 double rider.  Ride along the car for $20, $10 passenger. Return at 6:00 PM for a pig roast,  505/50 raffle, flat screen TV raffle and  Chinese auction.
Entertainment provided at 9:00 PM with the band, E53. No cover charge.

The annual Memorial Day Services will be conducted by VFW Post 7073 and American Legion Post 598 (both of Parker) on Monday, May 26. Veterans of both wartime and peacetime are asked to participate in this annual observance.  Uniforms are NOT required. Participants are asked to meet at the VFW Post on River Avenue in Parker no later than 7:30 AM.
The schedule of stops  for the day are as follows:
Dutch Hill Cemetery – 8:00 AM
Callensburg Honor Roll – 8:30 AM
West Freedom Honor Roll – 8:50 AM

This spring, the Franklin Civic Operetta Association is presenting Godspell at the Barrow Civic Theatre.
This production includes some of our local talent.  Tristan Blain and Libby Best, both high schoolers at A-C Valley, are appearing as two of Jesus’ disciples.  Tristan, a Junior from Parker, is a seasoned veteran of the Barrow Civic Theatre and Libby, a Sophomore from the Emlenton Area, is making her first appearance there.

Whether you are their biggest fan, or have never had the opportunity to see them in concert before; you need to set aside Friday evening April 25th at 7:00 pm.  For the first time, our local Nashville recording artists will be performing a concert in the Crawford Center auditorium to help benefit the Emlenton Business Association!

Benefit for Beth Ealy's Kidney Transplant

In 2012 Beth was diagnosed with end stage renal which is permanent and cannot be fixed. During this stage of renal failure, the kidneys do not function well enough to maintain life, and the individual needs dialysis or a kidney transplant. right now, Beth goes to dialysis three days a week as she waits to find a match. Int the meantime, Beth is surrounded by the love and support of her family who are with her every step of her journey. One thing that the hospital tells patients is that having a good support team is the main thing in causes like this.

Beauty and The Beast March 20th - 22nd

A-C Valley Junior/Senior High School will present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast March 20-22 at 7:00 in the A-C Valley High School auditorium.  The musical brings to life the Academy-Award winning Disney feature film with all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman along with new songs written by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.
