A Birthday Wish Fulfilled

Gabrielle Miller, a fourth grade student at Immaculate Conception School in Clarion, wanted only one thing for her 10th birthday; to make a difference in someone’s life. With the help of her parents Dawn and Brad Miller of Mayport, PA, she formulated a plan for her impending birthday party; in lieu of gifts for herself, she asked all her friends and family to make a donation to Camo Cares.  After all was said and done Gabby collected and donated $700.00 to Jason Say, Owner of Wired Outdoors through which Camo Cares is coordinated.

Local Senior Gives Back to American Legion

Abby Pakutz, a senior at Karns City High School, remembers supportive acts for a long time. Four years ago she was selected to receive the American Legion's Eighth Grade Award. The award is given annually to teacher-chosen outstanding students. Abby received her award from the American Legion Post 642 in 2010, at the Memorial Day Parade. The award was one  she earned, and one she never forgot.

Benefit for Beth Ealy's Kidney Transplant

In 2012 Beth was diagnosed with end stage renal which is permanent and cannot be fixed. During this stage of renal failure, the kidneys do not function well enough to maintain life, and the individual needs dialysis or a kidney transplant. right now, Beth goes to dialysis three days a week as she waits to find a match. Int the meantime, Beth is surrounded by the love and support of her family who are with her every step of her journey. One thing that the hospital tells patients is that having a good support team is the main thing in causes like this.

Over fifty valley residents braved the wind, snow and cold Wednesday night, March 12th to attend a presentation at the Crawford Center in Emlenton. The Trail Town meeting and program hosted by Emlenton Business Association and presented by the Oil Region Alliance team who shared the story of the positive impact of bike trails to communities in which they pass through, creating Trail Towns. Emlenton, Parker, Foxburg, East Brady, Franklin, Oil City, are all towns being linked by expanding bikeways of the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail.

Governor Corbett Announces Pennsylvania Ranks First in Northeast Region for New, Expanded Corporate Facilities


Harrisburg – Governor Tom Corbett announced today that Site Selection magazine, a publication specializing in the corporate real estate and economic development field, has ranked Pennsylvania as the top state in the northeast region for new corporate facilities in 2013. Pennsylvania has more successful projects than all other eight northeast states combined.
For the third year in a row, Pennsylvania also broke the top five nationally, ranking fourth nationwide for new or expanded corporate facilities in 2013.

Beauty and The Beast March 20th - 22nd

A-C Valley Junior/Senior High School will present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast March 20-22 at 7:00 in the A-C Valley High School auditorium.  The musical brings to life the Academy-Award winning Disney feature film with all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman along with new songs written by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.

National Catholic Sisters Week, March 8-14, 2014


The first-ever week to recognize the service and ministries of Catholic women religious as part of National Women’s History Month is being celebrated this week, March 8 through March 14, 2014. This inaugural National Catholic Sisters Week is being led by St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota and is holding events all week long to recognize these sisters and to shed light on these women, past and present, for their good works in women’s leadership, health care, education and in the church.

Local Inspirational Country Music artist Isaac Cole (McNany) will be performing with a live band at the Famous Wheeling Jamboree on Saturday, March 15th.
The Wheeling Jamboree has been a must stop location for touring artists like Pam Tillis, George Jones, and Buck Ownes. Isaac will be performing songs from his new EP "Just A Kid" that was just released in February 2014.
