 PARKER, Pa., Oct. 14, 2013 -- Central Electric Cooperative's (CEC's) members re-elected board of director Jody P. Weaver, representing Clarion County; and elected new board member, Kenneth D. Etzel, representing Venango County at their Annual Meeting of the Members on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 at Whitehall Camp & Conference Center in Emlenton.

Emlenton: On Saturday, October 12th, members of local parishes gathered together to pray a public Rosary before the statue of the Blessed Virgin outside Saint Michael’s of Emlenton.  The day was dedicated in reparation of the sins of the world with the goal of returning America to God.  It is an annual event, and is held in hundreds of locations across the United States on the same day, ensuring the simultaneous praying of the Rosary in our country.

On Wednesday October 3rd it was hard to find a place to park in the center of Eau Claire as Hunter Truck Sales welcomed customers, suppliers, friends and family to an “Open House” to celebrate being in business for 75 years. The day’s events ran from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM including lunch and a dinner, along with information seminars by International and Peterbilt.

Excitement surrounded the newest addition to the 2013 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series as the inaugural Car-Mate Gusher GNCC descended upon the Oil Region community on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 for the 11th round of the 13-race series at RiverStone Farm in Foxburg. Steady rainfall increased the obstacles throughout the freshly cut racecourse but nothing could stand in the way of Pennsylvania’s very own Chris Bithell, who captured his first overall win of the season in his home state in the XC1 Pro ATV.

Farm & Country Driving Tour Sets Date

Driving Tour

It is that time of year again for the Farm & Country Farm Driving Tour.   This is our fifth time through and we have made a couple of changes and added several things.  This year’s edition is scheduled for October 12, 2013 and is running from 10 to 5 at most of the 13 stops.  This year the Pumping jack Museum in Emlenton has joined us and should prove most enjoyable.  Not only will the museum be open but also the chance for visitors to take a look inside the Crawford Center will be an advantage.

Drake Well Museum to Host Drake Well by Moonlight

On Saturday, September 28, Drake Well Museum and the Friends of Drake Well, Inc. will host Drake Well by Moonlight, a special evening experience bringing oil history to life. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.  Admission is $8.00 for adults and $3.00 for children (3-11 years).  Families will be able to take advantage of the event’s Special Family Rate, up to 2 adults and 3 children for only $20.00.
