East Brady Halloween Lovers Costume Winners

193 Costumed Halloween lovers registered for the costume judging at the Beabout Community Center in East Brady on October 30. After a fun evening of trick-or-treating, the East Brady Volunteer Fire Department, in partnership with the First Presbyterian Church of East Brady, invited everyone to come show off their costumes and get a generous bag of goodies. Fifty special costumes won cash prizes:
Age 12 months and under: Isabelle Brothers (Pink Bunny), Tristan and Tripp Simpson (hunters); Georgia Sweeney (Georgia Peach)

A program called SING AND PRAY FOR AMERICA will be held at Foxburg's Lincoln Hall this Sunday from 3:00 to 4:30 P.M.  Veterans and Boy and Girl Scout troops are invited to attend in uniform!

Emlenton V.F.D. Enjoys Successful Fundraiser

The annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser was held on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the Emlenton Truck Plaza off I-80 Exit 42, Emlenton. The dinner was a success despite the closing of the Emlenton Hill. Supporters came from Parker, Foxburg, Clintonville, Emlenton, Lamartine, Clintonville and I-80 travelers. The Emlenton firemen would like to thank everyone who came out to support them and went the extra mile to show their support.

MARIE ELIZABETH RIDER, 89, of Parker, Pa., formerly of West Sunbury passed away at 2:01 PM Sunday at Parker Personal Care Home where she had resided for some time.
Born in West Sunbury, Pa. on April 10, 1924, she was daughter of the late Samuel Edgar and Clara Snyder Rider.
A devout reader of her Holy Bible, she was long affiliated with the West Sunbury Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

However, by the 1930’s almost every family could afford a radio and already stylish and tech savvy consumers were making a statement with sets such as this red/brown Catlin (an early type of Bakelite) model by FADA.

Lamartine: Pumpkin Fest 2013 at the was a huge success at St. Pau's & Salem Lutheran Parish! It was very well attended (approximately 600-700 participants!) Many young families took advantage of the children’s carnival and thoroughly enjoyed the games, crafts, pumpkin carving, face painting, hay rides, inflatables, pedal cars and pony rides. The performances that took place throughout the day were all thoroughly enjoyed. The festival raised money to benefit our the parish youth & family ministries.

Local V.F.W Hosts 1st Annual Pink Brunch Fundraiser

The Paul W. Wood VFW Post 7840, Cherry Valley, on Sunday, October 13th held their First Annual Go Pink Brunch Fundraiser. IThe breakfast was held to raise awareness and raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The breakfast started at 10:00 AM and went until 1:00 PM. There was a delicious brunch including, eggs, sausage, bacon, sausage gravy & biscuits, ham, hashbrowns, fruit & more!
