2014 Keystone H.S. Prom Court

The Keystone High School Prom will be held on Saturday, May 3, at the high school, with the Promenade and Crowning beginning at 6 p.m. and the Prom following at 7 p.m. This year’s theme is, “Under the Big Top.”

Local Fire Departments Fight Fire at Market in Eau Claire

Good Friday morning dawned in the hamlet of Eau Claire with an acrid smell of smoke in the air and a sense of sadness and loss. Thursday night, April 18th, the Eau Claire community witnessed the destruction of a landmark business to a devastating fire. The Delisio Market, formerly owned and operated by Gus Thompson for 31 years and before him by the Beatty family, engulfed and destroyed by flames. The building, almost 125 years old, was a general store, food market, and a community hub for generations.

Scott Shalaway Lecture at ACV Elementary School

A lecture by Dr. Scott Shalaway  will feature two nature topics on  Saturday, May 10th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the A-C Valley Elementary Auditorium. The lecture is part of the 6th Annual Foxburg Nature Festival. Tickets are $10 adults; $5 students;and  toddlers free.

Planting Autism Awareness


“Planting Autism Awareness” in the community is the goal for local autism support group, Our Puzzled Life. This group was started by Kimberly Brewer to help reach out to other families with children struggling with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The Brewer family has two boys with autism and understands the complications associated with getting the right services to help children. April is Autism Awareness Month and we want to make the community more aware that if you have a child with autism it isn’t the end of the world.

Emlenton Business Association Hosts Concert at The Crawford Center

Whether you are their biggest fan, or have never had the opportunity to see them in concert before; you need to set aside Friday evening April 25th at 7:00 pm.  For the first time, our local Nashville recording artists will be performing a concert in the Crawford Center auditorium to help benefit the Emlenton Business Association! 

PennDOT Rte. 68 Work Begins


Indiana– Work began this week on the bridge replacement projects on Route 68 Bradys Bend Bridges #2 (over Hart Run), #3, #4 and #5 (over Sugar Creek), and #6 (over Whiskey Run) between the intersections of Route 4009, Kittanning Hollow Road, and Route 4003, Seybertown Road, in Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County.
The first phase of the project is the replacement of bridges #3 and #5.  Traffic will be restricted to one lane by temporary traffic signals for each structure. These restrictions will be in place until October.

Chinese Auction at Foxburg Pizza

Steve Moores, owner of the Foxburg Pizza in Foxburg,  holds one of the many bird houses to be auctioned off during the upcoming Foxburg Nature Festival.
Art students from A-C Valley High School have painted the birdhouses that you can own if you are one of the lucky winners in the Chinese Auction. You can stop in anytime now to buy your tickets. The winning tickets will be drawn after the 5K race on May 11, 2014.
The prices for the Chinese Auction tickets are: $1 each; 6 for $5; 14 for $10; 22 for $15 or 30 for $20.

The Pennsylvania Borough Councils Association has awarded Emlenton’s Borough Council President, Barry Louise as the "Outstanding Council Member of the Year 2014 in Western Pennsylvania.
