The event was initially scheduled to be held at Woodburn Park on South Street, but due to a rainy day, activities were moved to the fire hall and it did not seem to deter residence from attending the event. A Certificate of Recognition was give to the Borough’s Mayor, Eric Sterner, by the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs for the occasion of their 125th Anniversary as a Borough in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and extended their best wishes for continued success and prosperous future. An official Citation was also given to the borough paying tribute to the borough for their momentous occasion of the 125th anniversary. Children then enjoyed rides on the fire trucks, and everyone spent time socializing on Shippenville’s past and present. Purple and gold iced cup cakes were available, reminiscent of the school colors of the Shippenville Wildcats when the high school was active. The Keister Family Band filled the hall with an atmosphere of music and good times.

Shippenville Borouch Council members include: Steve Brocious, Doug Penny, Dan Hartle, Jarrod Kapp, Linda Duffee, President; Gary Dittman, Dutch Robertson, and Mayor Eric Sterner.

A commemorative book of Shippenville’s 125 years was available for the event. The book, authored by Kevin Beichner, and contains 82 pages and features its founding fathers, many historic photos and present businesses. The book is still available at its regular price is $8.00, at the Shippenville Red and White Store.
