Jeanne Dunlap

Jeanne Dunlap, 86, of Chicora, a well-known retired registered nurse, passed away peacefully at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Jeanne was born in East Brady on November 4, 1927.  She was the daughter of the late  Robert and Lillian Jordan Yount.
She was a 1945 graduate of East Brady High School and a 1948 graduate of the Butler County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.  In her earlier years Jeanne had been employed by the Deshon VA Hospital in Butler.  She also had been employed by Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.  For more than three decades Jeanne had been employed as a registered nurse at Dr. Ernest Molchany’s office in Chicora.  Following her employment with Dr. Molchany she was employed as a cardiac rehab nurse for Dr. Sethi in East Brady and in Butler.
Jeanne was married on December 22, 1949 at the First Presbyterian Church in East Brady to Melvin J. Dunlap. Mr. Dunlap preceded her in death on December 18, 1999.
She was a long time member of the Union First Presbyterian Church in Cowansville where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.  She was a member of the Rivers Bend Quilting Guild at Brady’s Bend.  She enjoyed baking cookies and the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Jeanne was a past matron and life member of Chicora Chapter #354 Order of the Eastern Star, now affiliated with Butler Chapter #45 Order of the Eastern Star.  Jeanne led Silver Sneakers, an exercise group for seniors.
Jeanne is survived by three sons, Melvin J. Dunlap Jr., Randy L. Dunlap and his wife, Diana, and Jeffrey W. Dunlap and his wife, Lisa, all of Chicora; five grandchildren, Jason Dunlap and his wife, Holly, Jennifer Graham and her husband, Matthew, Jeremy Dunlap and his wife, Shanon, and Ashley Cooper and her husband, Corey, all of Chicora; eight great grandchildren, Conrad, Abigail, Jaylee, Cole, Arianna, Hunter, Caden, and Madelyn; a sister, Donna Olcus, of Kittanning, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Nathan James Dunlap, who died May 3, 1985 and Nicholas George Dunlap, who died February 23, 2004.
Friends were received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014. A funeral service was held from the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 the Rev. Mary Marks King, pastor of the First Union Presbyterian Church, Cowansville, officiating.  Interment was at Lawn Haven Memorial Park, Worthington. Member of The Butler Chapter #45 Order of Eastern Star conducted a memorial service at 6:45 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at the funeral home.
