Double Drivel 5/27/14

Dick’s Thoughts
The KSAC recently announced their Spring All Conference squads.  Here are the locals honored for softball.  A-C Valley representatives were Kayla Cratty, Alyssa Babcock, and Halee Wetzel on the second team and Danielle Kaufman on the third team. Named from Keystone were Jena Hall, Marina Bowser, and McKena Shick to the first team, with Lexi Callander and Mallory Reed on the second team, and Samantha Beal and Shayla Chapman on the third team. Moniteau was represented by league MVP Kennedy DeMatteis. Joining Kennedy on the first team were Kristina DeMatteis, Taylor Hasychak, Courtney Claypoole, and Gabby Stewart. MHS also had Alyssa Dailey on the second team while Kayla Campbell, Sara Hull, and Alazia Greaves were named to the third team.

Gregory Polanco now has 40 runs batted in over 44 games. Hard to believe he is not a better option than Snider, Tabata, or Harrison in right field.
Only the NHL would schedule the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals at 1 PM on a Saturday.  They certainly know how to market their product.
The San Antonio Spurs have 0 seven footers on their roster. The Miami Heat has 2 players this tall.  The University of Kentucky has 3 seven footers.
Notre Dame fired Charlie Weis  11/03/09. Since that day they have paid Charlie $9,787.95 per day not to coach their team.
Lucy Li recently qualified for the Women’s US Open Golf Championship. No big deal other than the fact that Lucy is 11 years old. She shot rounds of 74 and 68 on the par 72 Old Course at Half Moon Bay layout.
With the bevy of sports networks now available could anyone be surprised that the NCAA paintball championship was shown on CBS Sports Network the other day? UCF beat U Conn in a shootout.
Thought of the week: The man on top of the mountain didn’t fall there.
