Double Drivel 1-14-14 Issue

Dick’s Thoughts
For the first time ever PNC Park wil host an ESPN Sunday Night Baseball game this season. The May 11th game versus the Cardinals will be shown.
Baseball America has named the Pirates as having the number 1 farm system in baseball.
The 2 best things to happen to the Pirates this off season is Carlos Beltran is no longer a St Louis Cardinal and Shin Soo Choo is no longer a Cincinnati Red.
It is going to be a busy off season for the Steelers. The defense will certainly look different with many of the following not returning….Polamalu, Clark, Taylor, Woodley, Worlds, Hood, Kiesel. There can’t be much doubt on which side of the ball the Steelers will be drafting.
Pitt football finished with a 7-6 record. They lost to #1 Florida State, but did beat #20 Notre Dame and #23 Duke. Penn State finished up 7-5 with a win over #23 Wisconsin. Both teams were fairly mediocre and miles away from being top notch.
As usual the SEC was the winner amongst conferences going 7-3 in their bowl games this year. The ACC went 5-6 with a National Championship while the Big 10 went 2-5.
How can the Baseball Hall of Fame not have the all-time hits leader (Pete Rose) all-time home run leader (Barry Bonds) and the most dominant pitcher of an era (Roger Clemens) not in it. The Hall of Fame is going the way of All Star games and Pro Bowls as meaningless. Baseball also is adding 3 managers this year (Cox, Torre, and LaRussa) yet Craig Biggio with over 3,000 hits can’t get in.
In NAS CAR a great bit of credit goes to the driver crew chief relationship. Dale Earnhardt Jr and Steve Letarte seem to have a prett y good relationship and Jr even though he does not win has been competitive. Letarte just announced this will be his last year with the team as he is going to NBC as a commentator. Dale Jr better win this year.
Thought of the week: Perseverance is not a long race, it is many short races one after another.
