Dorothy J. Miller

Dorothy J. Miller

Dorothy J. Miller, 91, of Meadowview Blvd., New Castle, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 17, 2014.
She was born in Ellwood City, Pa on July 6, 1922, the daughter of the late Harry J. and Kathryn Buquo Ayers.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James J. Miller and a sister, Lois Powell.
She is survived by her two sons, J. Christopher and his wife Susan of New Castle, Pa, and Mark and his wife LuAnne of Pleasanton, Ca., along with her three loving grandchildren, Joel, Reneé, and Annaliese Miller.
A graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, Dorothy lived with her parents until her marriage to James J. Miller on October 14, 1942. Together they moved to St. Petersburg, Pa, and began their lives and family together, eventually moving to New Wilmington until their sons completed school. At that time, Dorothy and Jim relocated to Emlenton, Pa, where they lived until retirement. The couple then moved back to New Castle for the remainder of their long and happy marriage. Her strong faith and devotion aided her in dealing with her husband’s long slow decline. Most of her life, Dorothy was a secretary for several businesses, including H.B. Beels and Son Insurance in Knox, Pa, and Larry Verone State Farm Agency in New Castle.
Dorothy was a soft-spoken, kind, and warm person, devoted to her family and friends. She was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, and wife, who cherished sharing in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her passion for current events, good books, and poignant discussions will be missed, as well as the frequent care-packages, loving gifts, and long supportive phone calls.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 26, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
