Diversity Day at Clarion Free Public Library

Immaculate Conception School teachers Deb Marchand and Nadine Babington took their second and third grade students to visit the Clarion Free Library on Monday, January 20, 2014, for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Diversity Day Program led by Dr. Brenda Sanders Dede.

Dr. Dede talked to the children about equal rights and the importance of the legacy of Dr. King’s dream. She read the story Ruby Bridges and shared her experiences growing up in that era. Additionally, Clarion University’s Library Science students read a story, The Crayon Box That Talked, and did an art activity which showcased diversity while reinforcing equality for everyone.
