Roy G. Weaver Jr., 84, of Emlenton passed away Thursday afternoon, July 17, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Shippenville, PA.
Born June 13, 1930, in Chester West Virginia, he was a son of the late Roy G. Weaver Sr. and Twila Barris Weaver.
Roy was engaged in farming all of his life and had also been employed by the Pennsylvania Highway Dept., Boise Cascade Corp. and retired from Glass Containers Corp.
He served on the Richland Agricultural Committee and as a Democratic Party Committee Person. He was a loyal voter, receiving a certificate for voting in every election.

Thomas Hayden Sherwin, 61, of Kittanning Pike, Chicora, a retired Pennsylvania State Police Trooper passed away at 11:55 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Chicora Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Thomas was born in Butler on September 17, 1952. He was the son of the late Thomas L. and Jeanne Hayden Sherwin.

Harold Hall

Harold E. “Bud” Hall, 90, of Big Bend Rd., Emlenton, went to be with the Lord at 6:13 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, while in hospice care at the Butler VA Community Living Center.
Harold was born in Big Bend on Goshen Rd. on July 6, 1924. He was the son of Harry C. and Maude Robinson Hall.

Janice U. Hunt

Janice U. Hunt, 90, of Clintonville, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2014.
Janice was born on March 13, 1924 in Cleveland, OH to the late Richard and Ruth Uhinck.
She is survived by her son Jeffry G. Hunt and grandson, Geoffrey Hunt.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, 3:00 PM, at the Rankin United Methodist Chapel, 970 Rankin Chapel Rd., Kennerdell, PA 16374.
Private inurnment will take place in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted OH.

Otto’s Tavern Hosts Jeffy Miller Benefit
$3,477 Raised to Help with Funeral Expenses

The rain did not deter any of the the friends or family of Jeffy Miller for the Jeffy Miller Benefit sponsored by Otto's Tavern on July 19th. The benefit was well attended. The benefit was held to aid in paying for funeral costs and misc expenses for Jeffy, who was killed in motorcycle accident.
Friends and family feasted on a pigroast dinner, played beer pong and purchased auction and 50/50 tickets and had a balloon release. A total of $3,447.00 was raised during the benefit.

Emlenton United Methodist Church Welcomes New Pastor, Kent O’Neil

Emlenton United Methodist Ministry welcomed its new pastor, Kent O’Neil, and his family on July 6, 2014. Pastor O’Neil preached a lively message entitled “. . . But on God’s Power” to a special combined gathering of Emlenton UMC, Big Bend UMC, and Old Zion UMC hosted by Emlenton UMC. Pastor O’Neil had previously served churches in Karachi, Pakistan and most recently nearby in Franklin before being appointed to serve Emlenton by the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church during its Annual Conference in Grove City June 5th through 8th this year.
