Keystone SMILES AmeriCorps Celebrates National AmeriCorps Awareness Week

The National AmeriCorps Week was celebrated this year March 9th thru March 17th. The Keystone SMILES AmeriCorps in Knox celebrated the week with several events. The events were, Seus"ville" week long open house, an open house at the host site Thomas Williams Center in Farrell, PA; and they held a "Showcase" event at the Reminisce Banquet Hall in Emlenton.

Griffith D. Morgan Scholarship

Applications, along with specific instructions, for the Griffith D. Morgan Scholarship, are available to be picked up in the guidance office of Karns City Jr./Sr. High School and Kittanning Sr. High School. Application forms must be submitted (post-marked) by April 30, 2013 in order to be considered for a scholarship.

As I sit here writing this, there is snow on the ground, more in the forecast and my body is trying to decide if it has a cold or the flu. As I mentioned recently, there was some talk of removal of antler restrictions for senior hunters. Well, forget it. It ain’t gonna happen any time soon. And, just in case you were wondering, those of us here in WMU 2D are faced with the extra onerous restrictions again next year.

Petrolia: The Bauer-Hillis Funeral Homes are proud to announce the addition of a Funeral Intern to its staff. Courtney Shirey, of Petrolia, started working for the funeral homes in February after completing her mortuary training at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science (PIMS).
